Neuville, Sordo, Mikkelsen and Breen will compete at the Masters’ Show with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRCs of the World Rally Championship. From 12.30 pm on Sunday 8th December, after the Monza Rally Show, the final clash on the straight of the Monza Eni Circuit will have, among its protagonists, four official drivers of the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team. These are Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo, Andreas Mikkelsen and Craig Breen who will share two i20 Coupe WRCs to take seven one-on-one clashes during the Masters’ Show.
As already announced, Dani Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen will compete at the Monza Rally Show (from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th, December) with some Hyundai i20 R5s, competing in the eight Special Stages scheduled. The Irish driver Craig Breen will join them in the three-day race with a third i20 R5. So, a total of three official Hyundai Motorsport drivers will take part in the Monza Rally Show.
After the rally, the three drivers will be joined by Thierry Neuville to attend the Masters’ Show. Neuville, Sordo, Mikkelsen and Breen will compete on Sunday afternoon with two Hyundai i20 Coupe WRCs, alternating between driving, in six direct clashes. At each challenge, the fastest driver between the two on the track, will get two points. The first two classified, at the end of the six heats, will compete in a final.
Hyundai Motorsport Team Director Andrea Adamo said: “Having four of Hyundai Motorsport’s 2019 WRC drivers compete on the Monza Rally Show’s Masters Show course should be one of the highlights of the event this year. Seeing the current WRC cars on Super Special stages is always a spectacle, and over the year the finale to the weekend in Monza has given fans some great moments, and the drivers some superb challenges and competition. The drivers can put on a good show, so the crowds can see why we claimed the WRC manufacturers’ title. As an exhibition-type event our four drivers competing against each other should be good fun for all, but I’m sure they will all be trying to win as well!”
Hyundai drivers will have their own ranking on the Masters’ Show. From the other clashes, will stand a winning crew among the R5 cars and one among the historic cars. Between the sporting challenges, the show will be ensured by the TitansRX Pantera RX driven by Tamara Molinaro and Reini Sampl and some drift drivers.
On Sunday, December 8th, the event will start with the SS 7 “Roccolo 2” and the SS 8 “Monza” at 8.35 and 8.59 respectively. The Monza Rally Show awards ceremony will be at 11.00 am while the Masters’ Show will start at 12.30 pm and will end at about 4.00 pm.
